Doors open at 7:30. This band sounds really fun. Worth a night on the town.

Can't wait to have the new CD in hand and celebrate with everyone who helped make it happen.
Stopping by to promote the new CD. It's always a good night at First Street.
I'm not sure if we're nominated for anything, but we get to play for an hour at Duffy's. I'm pleased.
It's been too long since I've played in Redding. Looking forward to saying hello to some of my kind Northern fans.
Looking forward to the first 2010 show. First live opportunity to pre-purchase the new album!
Matthew Clough and the Cloud Nines were kind enough to organize this show on my behalf as a last-moment fundraiser for the 3 day, 60 mile walk on October 2nd. He'll open up the show with the crazy kids, then I'll play with the Bona Fides, and last up will be Kenny Williams Jr. and Mike Pascal. If you haven't heard them, you're in for a treat. Wonderful acoustic duo I'm excited to listen to.
Stop by the T Bar any time after 5:30pm and 20% of all purchases go to support funding for breast cancer research and education. I've still got about $2k to raise in order to participate in the 3 day, 60 mile walk through San Francisco. It's going to be a fun night with amazing raffle prizes, cupcakes donated by Upper Crust, and a silent auction. The band will play at 7pm, and I'm hoping for a special visit from the Chico Acapella Gospel choir. Start your week off right.
I'll be playing a couple of songs at the Sunday morning service. Always a very attentive audience, happy to return.
First time playing at Left Coast, although I've attended other shows. It's a nice spot to have some pizza and beer and listening to music. Come on down.
I'll be playing a solo set while looking out over the water from the second story. I won't be playing here again until I can get the band down for a show in the fall, so drop by if you can!
Time for music on the patio of the Perk. It really is a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning if you're not at church, whether Vatican-approved or Church of the Holy Matress. I'll see if I can get Christine to join me with the bass, but alas, the other Bona Fide has a regular Sunday gig.
Let's see if any of the band can make it....
Cafe Flo is doing a menu makeover and invites everyone to come and celebrate with them. There will be music all day and into the evening, and I'll keep you posted about when KJB and the Bona Fides are up.
Do you really require an excuse to come to the Red Tavern patio after work on a Wednesday? Lovely landscaping, bocci ball, drinks, incredible food, and KJB and the Bona Fides. Maybe I'll even sing a number with a waiter......
This is going to be interesting. Joining me will be local band Mumblefinger, then highly-acclaimed touring band, Chris Robely and the Fear of Heights. Kind of a modern acoustic Beatles with cello and what not. Then, Lord willing, a debut of the trio I've been working on- Karen Joy Brown and the Bona Fides!
This is going to be a fun show replete with some of Chico's finest musicians each performing a couple of songs in honor of ubiquitous local upright bass player, Christine LaPado(one of KJB and the Bona Fides!) and her harrowing experience of a broken hand that brought the Chico music scene to a screeching halt for a month. Basically, we're going to pack Duffy's, drink, play music, and throw money at Christine. Sound like a good night? I've always wanted to play at Duffy's, so here's my chance!
Another reunion, this time in Redding. Hope to see some regulars.....
This is a nice little venue to catch up on some KJB tunes.
I had a blast at my return show last weekend, and was delighted to see my faithful Benicia supporters. I'm making a habit of performing here once a month.
I'll be one of three acts including Geoff Baker and an artist from the Portland area.
The ever-interesting Slam Buckra is hosting another songwriter showcase at the Post Office Saloon in Redding. He's got a good eye for talent, and is sure to perk up your weekend. I'll be playing a few, so come on down.
This is going to be fun. I've been working with a new guitarist named Chris Wenger who'll be playing with me tonight. He's loaded with delightful melodic ideas. We'll be on around 7:30, but there will be a couple of other acts.
I'm back at the TeaBar, or Teazme, or whatever you want to call it. It's still a cool place.
Can't get enough of the Cheer's-like atmosphere. Come on down for a spaghetti dinner and me.
I can't wait to play at what continues to be my favorite spot! Join me for a First St. reunion to hear the old and new.
Cafe Flo is back under new management, but still faithful to the cause of great food, coffee, beer/wine, and of course, music! Christine LaPado will be joining me on upright bass this evening, and I think the intimate nature of this venue is perfect for enjoying our duo.
This is the first of four 45 minute performances I'll be doing over the weekend at the Christmas Fair. Drop by for a listen if you happen to be there any of the other times as well:
Saturday 10am, and 3pm
Sunday 1pm
After a great time at Cafe Coda last year, Catherine Sholz decided to organize another show this time in Nevada City. More information to come.....
It’s time for the annual Chillith Fair featuring Chico’s treasure of women singer/songwriters. A great way to spend a fall afternoon in the park.
This will be the second year I've participated in this tasty event where all are invited to browse the Cancer Society's thrift store and sample incredible chocolate desserts. I will be providing the mellow music by which to shop and snack. Come by to find bargains and support a worthy cause.
My first show back in the USA. Since I've been using the Perk as an office this week, we decided that I should play this Sunday. Drop by and let me know what's been happening over the summer with you.
I would like to invite you to a "Karen's Going to Spain Fundraiser-House
Concert-Dinner Party". If you haven't heard the
news, I'll be leaving for Spain on May 31st to teach English and soak up
the music scene for a year.
Some kind friends have volunteered to host an intimate part house concert/
part dinner party kind of event as a "buen viaje" gesture. They will
provide the food, but ask that you would donate at least $10 towards the
funding of my adventure.
Due to limited space, we can only have about 25-30 people attend.
Therefore, if you'd like to attend, send me at email(click contact), and I'll
let you know if you'll be one of the crowd! I wish I could have made it a
bigger event to include everyone, but alas, Cafe Coda is quite booked.
I'm delighted to play again for this event that honors those working to advocate for crime victims' rights.
This may be my last show in Chico for awhile, sorry for the late notice....
I'd love to see my ever so kind and attentive Redding fans again.
Come listen to what I'm working on during these cold, dark winter months and warm up with some great tea.
I'll be providing the romantic music ambiance for this evening.
Marquesa Versola masterminded this triple bill to create a fine evening of some seriously soulful female vocals. If you haven't heard these ladies yet, I recommend clearing the calendar for this mix of wine, women, and song.
I'm so glad to be asked back for the annual open house. Drop on by the office across from the police station for food, music, and a tour of the facilities.
I'll be joining three other women singer/songwriters for an evening "song circle". Curious and excited to hear these ladies live.
I ran into the new owner at my Bidwell Perk gig and we set up a show. Check this place out.
Here's the second of three dates Cris Kelly and I teamed up to do in Monterey.
Opening for the wise and witty One Horse Shy crew in lovely downtown Ashland. Anyone spending time with family for Thanksgiving need a drink?
This is a lovely little winery in dowtown Redding. A kind fan talked me up to the owner, and voila- come see the show, and enjoy some fine wine.
This is an admirable organization that is raising funds to take at-risk kids on road trips who may have never even left their county. Honored to offer my musical services for them.
I'll be heading to my second annual folk alliance region conference. I had a blast last November meeting some incredible musicians and making some good connections. I've got a showcase slot at 1am in the Unfinished Lips Music Room on Friday night, and then at 2:40pm on Saturday in Eliza Jane's Super Chill Room. Looking forward to moving and shaking.
Alli Battaglia is doing her organizational magic again for Chillith Fair #2. I'm honored to once again be part of the line up of incredible talented women we've got in our little town.
Here's the hometown closing of the tour. Let's bring out a great crowd for my guests and trip the lights fantastic Cafe Coda style(champagne, anyone?).
This is the second stop of the mini tour. I'm looking forward to sharing one of my favorite venues with Cris and Manda.
This is the first stop of a mini tour with Cris Kelly and Manda from One Horse Shy. We've got a few dates scheduled at this very cool venue, so let's see how it goes. Any excuse to be in Monterey sounds good to me.
Your donation gives you admission to this special event featuring fantastic chocolate desserts from local bakeries, live music(me!), and relaxed shopping in this second hand treasure trove.
Let's see how the weather holds for these October Sundays at the Perk.
This is a lovely little winery in dowtown Redding. A kind fan talked me up to the owner, and voila- come see the show, and enjoy some fine wine.
I'll be playing in the fountain area if you'd like to stop by.
They haven't officially announced it yet, but apparently one of my songs has made it on the new CAM CD. I'm first in the line up to celebrate the second annual Chico Area Music compilation CD. Check out the other fine acts I'll be sharing the stage with..
Erin Lizardo 10:05 - 10:30
Aubrey Debauchery 10:40 - 11:05
Mike Lee 11:15 - 11:40
Hear for Now 11:55 - 12:45
This time will be more like a singer/songwriter showcase with Cris and Manda playing as a duo, and Mysha Caruso and I doing a solo thing. I'm so honored that the One Horse Shy crew is bringing me along for the ride.
I'll be opening for a great band from Portland called The Fingerprints. Quality people and quality musicians. They'll also be sharing a bill with me in October in Chico at Cafe Coda.
I'll be playing with Cris Kelly of One Horse Shy in the open air market.
I'll be opening for One Horse Shy, the band who got me all these cool Oregon shows. They've got great old school sound.
Ace is the place. I'd love to get some roadies for this one......
Sundays at the Perk are starting up again. Grab some friends, a cup of coffee, and enjoy the serenade.
One more market before I head up to Ashland for my long weekend tour playing with the One Horse Shy crew.
Getting down at the Post Office. Love it.
I'll be there promoting my August 16th show at Monk's.
The fabulous Slam Bukra(http://www.myspace.com/slambuckra) is hosting a songwriter showcase at the Post Office and I'm invited! Here's the line up:
Ty Webb 8:30 - 8:50 PM
Alli Battaglia 9:05 - 9:25 PM
Slam Buckra 9:40 - 10:00 PM
Karen Joy Brown 10:15 - 10:35 PM
Freda Powell 10:50 - 11:10 PM
I played here about five years ago, and have wanted to return ever since. I love visiting and camping here. Looking forward to saying hello to my beautiful ocean...
Back at Monk's! The show takes place on the semi-secret back patio just when it gets dark. The night cools down, the music starts up. Are you feeling it?
Here's a new spot to compliment my Lodi gig. Looks like a place that's got a steady stream of good music.
The heat is on.
I'll be doing a little open air performance near the fountain. I played at the row during last summer's tour and met some cool people.
I'll be coming back here during summer week tour #2. Perhaps sharing the stage with some other fantastic bay area talent so stay tuned.
I'm back, but it just won't be the same without bartender Chris. Time to create some new First St. memories.
I'll be doing the "special music" section of the service.
Stop by if you're not busy being patriotic somewhere else.
I'll be back to Pangaea the evening of the farmers market. Come in with your produce and relax...
Who's in for a roadie trip to Lodi?
This looks like a great little spot where some fine acoustic music happens.
This looks like a fun new place to play. Join me for a casual Sunday afternoon.
Lodi's dowtown market is tonight, so it should be quite happening...
I had such a fun time that I booked another slot. I really enjoyed the crowd.
I'll be opening up a night of three bands in the new Chico Dowtown Plaza. Grab a to-go dinner, and make yourself comfortable for some outdoor entertainment!
Back to Old Arch. Stop by one of my new favorite places for great beer, food, and music.
An extra spot opened up that I'm delighted to fill. See you there.
I'll be playing a short set in a line up of cool Chico bands.
Join me on the patio while we can still enjoy the spring weather.
The Market is back, and i'll be there selling the new album, so stop on by.
